It's a great day in the neighborhood. Yesserie, it is a great Friday. I attended the grand reopening of my favorite luncheon eatery. The owner has sold it to some new folks. My current wife and I just had to go and see what changes had been made with the decor as well as the menu. New paint, ceiling tiles and signage all over. They had it looking pretty spiffy. Fortunately the menu has stayed pretty much the same. They have tweaked a couple of things but for the most part it looks the same. I had to try my staple tenderloin sandwich with fries. The wife had her usual chicken sandwich. The tenderloin was a little larger than the previous version and actually was very good. I couldn't find fault with it at all. My current wife on the other hand didn't think the chicken sandwich was as good. It had a slightly different bun which she blamed for her opinion. Hmmmmm!
Saw our good friend at lunch today. Usually we arrange a lunch meeting with her but today we just went and there she was. It is always nice to see a friendly face. Technically, she is my wife's friend. They go to the Iowa women's and men's basketball games together. I have opted out of attending basketball games. I found myself getting just too stressed out with the Big Ten basketball referees. I can stay home and change the channel if I want to. Couldn't do that sitting in the arena. I get a kick out of listening to them talk about the these teams though. They refer to the players by their first names as if they actually know these people. Kinda cute. They discuss all aspects of the respective programs, rumors and the prospects for next year. You don't want to mess with these ladies, though. They have forgotten more Iowa Athletics than the Sports Media Department at the UofI. These two know all - Stats, names, coaches, strategy, and etc.
It is a great Friday only because I have not had any request for tech support. Yeah!!!!! I really am tired of this computer problem thing. Sue's laptop is still MIA. Don't seem to be able to get a prognosis from my buddy.
My brother Chris, the younger bald one, sent me an email today. He informed me that they were going to Arizona today and will be gone a couple of weeks. Could I take their dog into the kennel. The answer was a big fat NO WAY Bro!!! I need a little more lead time. We are full this week and next so that is not possible. I did wish him a good trip. Am I jealous? You bet I am. What brother wouldn't be. He also informed me that he has a new laptop. He just keeps rubbing it in.
Got a box of Fiber One bars the other day. They were chocolate and oats, I believe. I had never tried these but have seem them hyped on TV quite a bit as a good source of fiber. The flavor is similar to a c flute corrugated cardboard with a hint of white paste. I looked at the label to see what was in this thing. The primary ingredient was Chicory Root Extract. Yum, yum! This was the largest item in the bar since it was the first ingredient listed. I just can't recall when I have had a good chunk of Chicory Root or its extract. Other ingredients listed in order were semisweet chocolate chips, whole grain oats, high maltose corn syrup, rice flour, barley flakes, sugar, canola oil, glycerin, maltodextrin, palm kernel oil, honey, tricalcium phosphate, soy lecithin, cocoa process with alkali, salt, fructose, malt extract, baking soda, milk, caramel color, natural flavor, mixed tocopherols added to retain freshness. Just how appetizing does this sound? Can all of these ingredients actually be good for you?
I hear Sue stirring in her bed. Remember, the only time I get on my laptop is when she is gone or asleep. This is one of those times. I had better close for now so I don't get caught. Have a great weekend y'all. Remember, a little Drivel is good for the soul. TA!
