Trashy Tuesday - A Sad Loss

A Sad Update
I am sad to report that my current wife's laptop (LT) did not survive the hard drive surgery.  The LT expired on Saturday afternoon. LT sadly will be interred at the Cedar Rapids Solid Waste Agency per his wishes.  LT wanted us to promise to recycle him so that he might be able donate parts to help other laptops survive.  That was just so him, always putting himself out there to help others. We are planning a memorial service for friends of LT.  We will caravan to the Solid Waste Agency site on Highway 13.  A brief service will be conducted with the help of Lloyd (solid waste agency electronic recycling technician).  After the services,  we plan to have an open house to celebrate LT's life.  It is a big loss.  One that will take a while to get over.  Sue, being the trooper she is, wants to replace the LT as quickly as possible.  It will be therapeutic for her to get a replacement as soon as possible.  RIP, So long old friend. (Sigh!)

My last post sparked numerous inquiries wanting to know the name of our favorite lunch time eatery.  It is Sammy's on Center Point Road.  They have recently changed owners but the menu is virtually the same.  Good Stuff.  Take cash since they don't accept any plastic.

Had supper last Sunday at Jenny's, the elder, home.  Sunday evening meals has become a semi-routine thing with us.  It rotates among us.  After our meal, we sit down to watch the "Amazing Race" or whatever is on at the 7:00 pm hour.  It is a nice time for bonding with kiddoes and granddogs.  Jenny prepared Lasagna and homemade bread.  It was very good however I am not a Lasagna fan.  Bless her heart, she made a "special" type for me that did not have any cottage cheese in it.  I don't like cottage cheese you see.  Both of the girls have learned to put up with the old man's quirks.

Someone sent this to me.  I have no idea of the origination of it but think we can all relate.
Inner  Peace:
If  you can start the day without caffeine, If you  can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,  If  you can resist complaining and  boring people with your troubles, If  you can eat plain food every  day and be grateful for it, If  you can understand when your loved  ones are too busy to give you any time, If you can take criticism and  blame without resentment, If  you can conquer tension  without  medical help, If you can relax without  liquor, If  you can sleep without the aid of  drugs,    ...Then  You Are  Probably  The  Family Dog!
Arrf! Arrf!

I am adding a new feature to my posts.  It is called "Rant of the Day".  My long time readers know that I have occasionally gone off on something or someone who has done me wrong (at least in my eyes).  I decided to formalize this and make it its own section.

Rant of the Day
Have you  been following our federal government struggling with reducing the deficit and cutting back on spending?  People keep talking about Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security as "entitlement" programs.  I really think they should remove Social Security from this label.  It is not a give away of money.  It is OUR money that they took away from us.  How about some outrage, sports fans?  We have all paid into the system every day of our working lives.  The primary reasons it is in trouble is 1. when started, it covered people who had not paid into the system, and 2. in the 70's or 80's our beloved Federal government stole money from the Social Security Fund to help with the general expenses of the government.  Hell, anyone could tell that it would eventually be fiscally unsound.  Why doesn't our government cut useless programs, duplicated programs, inflated costs and outrageous trade policies.  Then give OUR money back to the Social Security Fund.  It wasn't their money to begin with.

Enough for today, guys and gals.  Momma is napping so I have to use the rest of my time to find a suitable replacement for LT.  In the meantime, have a great day and a better tomorrow.  TA!
