Good Friends!!! How are we doing today? I have passed my test and am
now a certified CPAP user. Hooray? I have been under the mask for 3
nights now and I would say that I haven't exactly become completely
comfortable with this device yet. I now I am only one of a growing
number of users. Hey, maybe we should have a support group or maybe
there already is one. I'll have to check that out.
2014, if
you remember, is the 50 year anniversary of my graduation from high
school. I am trying to rekindle those memories we had of 1964. What a
year.
Let's
look at the Billboard top 10 list for this week.

10. I Love You More And More Every Day – Al Martino
“Stop
And Think
It Over” by Dale & Grace dropped out of the Top 10 this week
and was replaced by Al Martino's “I Love You More And More Every
Day”. Those Beatles are hogging the top of the chart again. Did
you realize that Simon & Garfunkel recorded “The Sounds of
Silence” 50 years ago yesterday. How's that for coincidence? While
in the Air Force Tech School I spent two weeks picking out the tune
to that song on my guitar. Must have played it a thousand times. I
love the music when they were together.
Not
sure about you but I spent a good portion of my time “cruisin' the
loop”. Remember, it was our opportunity to completely waste 15 cent
a gallon gasoline. All we did was drive up and down the street trying
to look really cool. Oh, sure there was the occasional foray out to
the blacktop highway for an impromptu drag race. There was the
mandatory stop at the A&W or the drive-ins; sitting in the car,
eating, laughing and just having an obnoxiously good time.
Maybe
you would take your girl or guy to the drive-in movie. There was
always a crowd there. Don't forget to hang up the speaker before you
leave. I bet some of you would hide friends in the trunk to sneak in.
You devils. I am listening to the Mama's & Papa's “Dream A
Little Dream of Me”. Michelle's angelic voice is featured. Not that
anyone care but I had the privilege to see the LIVE at Carnegie Hall
in New York City. FANTASTIC is all I can say.
This
just in from Larry the Cable Guy = “Spring
is here; I'm So Excited; I Wet My Plants!” Thought
I would check to see how awake you were.
It
was 42 degrees for a high back in 1964 with a low of 29 degrees.
About like today I guess.
I
have been faux shopping for a car/suv. It all started when my current
wife, Sue, reported that she did a couple of 360's in her Honda
Accord about a month ago. She didn't hit anything and ended up going
the right direction. Probably skills she learned from our
auto-crossing days. Anyway, now she is unable to drive this Honda
Accord any longer. She doesn't feel safe and it seems to be doing its
own thing. Okay, Okay! In an unprecedented moment of weakness I
offered to swap cars with her. She could drive the new Chevy Equinox
and I would drive the Accord. A few days pass and I determine that it
does need some adjustments. Seems as though the car wanted to
continue going even though you were braking. It also would travel at
20 mph without a foot touch the accelerator. In it goes
to the Honda dealer. Yep they found it needed a software update. Life
is good again. Drives like a normal car again. Now the rest of the
story – I am still driving it for the most part. I think the
Equinox is gone. Hence, the reason I am fantasizing about a new car.
Did
everyone spring forward Saturday night? You did? Great. Did you
replace those smoke alarm and carbon monoxide batteries too? Aha –
caught you. Better get those changed post haste. Does
it seem that springing ahead is easier to adjust to than falling back
in the fall? It does me.
Time
is getting short and there
is
so much I would like to talk to
you about.
I will just have to save it for another time. I have a supply of new
French Roast and boy is it ever good. I am also trying a new
sweetener. It is called Monk Fruit Extract. It is really a good
replacement for all of those other sweeteners. It is either by the
sugar or in the Health Food Dept. Also, for my Iowa friends, did you
know that Hy-Vee
Pharmacy has now changed to a centralized prescription filling
station. You phone your order in and you will get it the next
business day, theoretically. I have been assured that a local fill
can still be had if necessary but you have to call them personally.
Okay,
the hammer is about to strike me. The editorial staff is really
impatient. A big Shout Out to our friends Charles, not his real name,
and his mate. Til we meet another day, TA!
