Day 4 - The last full day

Hiddye Ho America!!

Thought I would keep my string of blogging every day going while I was at our Synod School.  I am in the class "Using Media in the Church".  We are discussing Facebook, Twitter and blogging.  Probably shouldn't be doing this during class but since when did I let that stop me.  This is one of the cool classes I am taking this week.

On the home front, or the dorm room front, my duct tape fix to the sheets is still holding and I am sleeping like a baby.  The shower, well we are co-existing.  It is a stalemate.  I have been able to wash most of the soap thankfully.  My towel is another story.  We now have 4 showers on it and it is getting pretty crusty.  I am being real, real careful so that I maybe able to skip a shower tonight.  Tomorrow is a short day so if my current wife can stand it, I may be able to pull off.

Weather has been deplorable.  It was so humid this morning that there was some haze and fog outside.  When the sun does come out, it is hotter than hades.  What's up with that? I keep saying to myself that we will think this is great in December.  Where is the happy medium?  What's up with Mother Nature?

As class goes along, I am questioning whether to mention "Drivel Over Coffee" to the group.  Sue, my current wife, is desperately wanting me to say something but my gut says to remain anonymous if you know what I mean?

The Grandpa Bailey Doggie Fitness Center and Spa of course is closed this week while we are out of town.  One of our daily pets, our Granddog Kinnick, went under the gas today.  He had his annual teeth cleaning and also some minor surgery.  He came through great I am told.  We will be anxious see all of our dogs when we get home. I have been noticing in the trade rags that doggie treadmills are really taking off.  Sales are going to town on the coasts.  My solar suntanning bed doesn't seem to get the same traction as the treadmill.  Just our best kept secret I guess.

Class has ended and I have escaped without the mention of my blog.  I was really sweating that one.  The 15 or 20 of us in class were having a spirited discussion about using blogging software to build a "web site" for our churches.  I didn't displaying my Drivel Over Coffee blog would have really contributed to the spirit of the discussion.  It just didn't seem as though the conservative Presbyterians would really pick up on the tenor of my blog, if you know what I mean.

I best be closing for now.  We have to check out in the morning so we are packing this evening.  The folks kindly taped the checkout procedures to the outside doors to our dorm.  Good grief.  It was easier to get discharged from the military than it is to get out of here.  I don't think "express checkout" has made it over here to Storm Lake.  There is a procedure if we check out between 6:00 am and 8:00 am.  A different procedure between 8:00 am and noon.  Everyone must be out of the dorms by noon whether you are done or not.  Next comes the linens furnished by Buena Vista.  We MUST place the sheets, pillows, blanket, towels and wash cloths into a pillow case wet or dry and sit it out in the hall ASAP tomorrow.  I'm not quite certain the wet or dry applies to the pillow case or the towels and wash cloths.  I will dampen the pillow case just in case.  It also did not mention if I should take the duct tape off of the sheets and mattress.  Sue and I have been batting it back and forth for a while. We still haven't decided what we should do.  We also found it curious that the college officialdom would seriously think that ANYONE would want to make off with any of their linens.  I am pretty certain they don't have to worry about losing any.  I've got to get packin' and off to bed.  Until next time --- TA!
