Trashy Tuesday

Success again, the trash is on the curb before 7:00 am.  One thing that I'm a little confused about is their rule regarding snow in the winter.  They state that the trash and recycling containers must NOT be placed on top of snow which is piled along the curb.  They state that their employees may injure themselves lifting them off the snow.  Really!!  What about me being injured insuring that the cans don't rest on snow piled along the curb.  Another rule states that these containers MUST be placed along the edge of the curb.  It seems to me that they want their cake and eat it to.  My thinking is that within a couple of years, once the populace becomes indoctrinated, we will be required to stand along side our trash containers and empty them into the trucks ourselves as they pass by.  They can sell it as a way to avoid raising taxes and keeping the budget balanced.  The day will come I'm sure.   My current dilemma is the definition of a pile of snow.  Could 3 or 4 inches be considered a pile?  Our trashy leaders have conveniently overlooked defining that so they can use their discretion when leaving your trash.  Hmmmm.

The pugs are gone!  Debby the younger picked Barney & Max up Sunday afternoon.  She and the pugs seemed genuinely elated to see each other.  By all accounts they were extremely glad to get back to their home.  Barney & Max stayed awake long enough to eat, then proceeded to collapse into a coma-like deep sleep for more than 2 hours before even stirring.  Patted myself on my back for doing a good job of draining their energy.  Kinnick remains here until the 23rd.  He even seems to be glad the pugs went home.  The pugs have a higher energy level than Kinnick.  I think he was tired out also since he has been sleeping a lot.

My current wife, Sue, finished the tree yesterday.  We decided to convert to the new LED lights which are more energy efficient.  Overall I like them better than the old style.  Good decision.  Gosh, being 80% more efficient will probably save us between $1.80 and $2.05 on our electric bill for the Christmas season.   Our giant tub of decorations can now return to the basement.  Up comes our big container of wrapping paper next.  We will be commencing wrapping the gifts.  I still am at a loss as to what to get for my current wife.  She has most everything and also doesn't proffer any suggestions so makes hitting a gifting home run difficult.  I haven't given up but time is wasting.

On a sad note, I thank my lucky stars that we decided some time ago not to go to the Iowa bowl game in Arizona.  Some may have read that our leading receiver has been kicked off the team.  Now 2 running backs are gone and a 3rd one is suspended for the bowl game.  Don't know if there is more to come or not but the Hawkeye Nation is NOT happy.

Like a lot of the country we are in a deep freeze.  At 8:00 am, we have reached -2 degrees.  Yeah!  The forecast is for a high of +13 degrees.  I repeat, why am I staying here in the winter?  I will ponder that one over another cup of French Roast.  Have a great day and a better tomorrow.  Stay warm. TA!
