Christmas Eve - All I want for Christmas is........

10. Licks from my Grand dogs.

9. A January thaw beginning tomorrow and ending March 25th.

8. A year free of ground squirrels.

7. Discount on garbage bag tags.

6. The will power to lose another 20 lbs.

5. A "Neck Tie" free Christmas.

4. Belly rubs. (Have I become one of my Grand dogs?)

3. Fudge - Lots of Fudge.

2. To bring a smile to my family and friends.

1. All of our local, state and federal representatives and bureaucrats to be infected with common sense.

Kind of proud of myself.  A pretty modest list I think except for the belly rubs.  All of us (myself & my current wife) here at the fictional Grandpa Bailey's Spoiled Dog Kennel extend our very best wishes for a Merry Christmas to all of our family and friends.

2010, our second year of retirement, has been one filled with too many joys to list here.  I think we are finally finding our niche in this retirement thing.  Unfortunately, our biggest downer was the loss of our canasta club earlier this year when the ladies became infatuated with the nickel slots out east and bought a casino.  Still we extend our best wishes to them.  Our grand dogs became frequent boarders this year.  They are as familiar with our home as we are.

Sue, my current wife, completed another year helping to manage our church's hospitality center for flood volunteers.  It appears as though 2011 will be the last year.  She has taken on a new challenge becoming President of the Presbyterian Women at our church.  She keeps busy for sure.

Being basically a procrastinator, I continue to explore volunteer opportunities as well as some business opportunities.  After 64 years on this earth, I still do not have a clear understanding of what I want to do with my life.  I do feel I am getting closer to resolving this issues though, there really isn't a need to hurry.

All of our flock are back in the fold.  Daughter Jenny, the snow bunny elder, returned Wednesday.  We went out for a birthday supper upon her return.  It was really nice to be able to sit around and just chat.

Kinnick was reunited with her  afterwards.  It was a real Kodak moment.  Of course I was too stupid to pickup a camera and take a picture but it was a GREAT reunion.  I entered our house first, met and greeted Kinnick like normal.  I had told him earlier that I would have a surprise for him when I got home.  I had him sit by the garage door in our family room and I told him his surprise was here.  At this point Jenny came through the door.  Kinnick saw her and immediately jumped up on her and smothered her with licks.  His tails wagging as fast as I have ever seen it.  He gasped for a breath and gave her more licks.  Of course, she reciprocated with big hugs.  It was great.  As we began to gather his belongings, he stayed right next to her and became increasingly anxious to get going.  He knew he was getting to go HOME!  Jenny has trained him to remember where his leash and collar are when he is not wearing them.  He also knows that he MUST have them when he goes out.  He kept going over to them, nosing them, then looking to see if anyone was going to put them on him.  We took him and Jenny home.  Reports the next morning indicated that he was indeed happy to be home.

Christmas has already come as our family is all together again.

Merry Christmas everyone.  Have a cup of French Roast for me. Sip, Sip, yum.  TA!
