Game Day Saturday

I’ve been out of sorts for several days. It seems that the allergies are flaring up big time. Watery eyes, stuffy nose, stuffy head, plugged up ears.  The first frost can’t come soon enough. Even the French roast doesn’t give me the normal boost. Just not potent enough. Got up this morning, stumbled to the kitchen in a fog and brewed the coffee. I was sipping the first cup and looking out the picture window, scanning the neighborhood. AAAAAH Shoot – forgot my robe! Would go back to bed if could. Wee….. Did you know that “it is still dark at 3:30 a.m.”? I didn’t know that plus it is quiet, the birds must go somewhere else for the night. If they sleep while roosting on a branch, why don’t they fall? I sure would.

Iowa plays Arizona tonight. Go HAWKS!  I hauled Jenny, daughter #1, to the airport this morning so she can go to the game.   Saw Kinnick, the Lab, briefly when I picked his mother up. He was friendly and gracious as usual. You would have thought it was noon instead of dark o’night in the morning. Seemed a bit confused as to why he wasn’t going with us. Seems as though, Mom had told him she would be gone for a few days and that he was staying with me.  I had to explain to him that I would be back to pick him up later and that he could go back to bed until then. That seemed to work.

I was worried that I wouldn’t get up on time. Foolish me. Why wouldn’t I get up? I woke up every 3 to 10 minutes from 2:30 on.  I do have an alarm clock but haven’t used it for a decade or so.  It took almost half an hour for me to set the alarm. Most alarm clocks have an indicator light to signify am or pm. This clock has that also BUT neither light was labeled with am or pm. As a result, I didn’t know if the alarm would go off at 4:00 am or 4:00 pm. PM would not be good.

My back yard has more flags sticking up in it than it has crabgrass (which is a lot). I have been informed that the action will happen on Tuesday. Burying a new cable or something. Oh Boy. Nothing better than some action in the neighborhood.  It will give Kinnick and me something to keep track of.

You know decision making can be a lonely business. I had to put my foot down this week. There was some retaliation at this week’s Etavirp canasta league event after last week’s melee.  I have reluctantly been forced to suspend the league until further notice. The ladies weren’t happy to say the least. I expect them to teepee my house or something. I’m ready. Kinnick will be on the prowl for a few days which will help. He does have an intimidating “Woof”.

The second cup is down the hatch. Now I must decide whether to go back to bed or get breakfast. Decisions, decisions. It never ends. Til next time. TA!
