Why break my string of blogging every day this week? I am sitting in a classroom/cafeteria/library building waiting for my current wife to return from an event. Next to me is a neat little coffee shop named "Common Grounds". Isn't that cute? Of course, it isn't open in the evening. Why should it be you ask. Because I am sitting here longing for an evening French Roast. I had a cup earlier today and it was great. The young lady asked me to wait a moment because she was brewing a new batch of French Roast. Naturally, I waited. What I didn't realize at the time was that I would have to wait half an hour in order to be able to drink it. This stuff was scorching hot. Whew! A little sip and I almost threw it across the room but I held on fortunately. It was fantastic. First one I have had since Sunday morning.
I posted a photo of my mattress on a web page they have here. I showed my solution to the small sheet/slick mattress pad dilemma. I didn't realize until I read some comments, that just how hot a topic this seems to be. No one talks about it, it just simmers under the surface. I will share the photo with you. My trusty duct tape came to the rescue again. I will never leave home without it.
Before I get any snide comments, those are my toes and head. I won't mention how I was dressed at the time. You will just have to speculate on that.
I heard there were 625 people attending this year. I feel confident that there are at least 5,000 kids under the age of 12 here also. Yikes, makes me happy to have grand dogs. One of the classes I am taking is the "History of Rock & Roll". This is a fun class. The instructor is an ex-DJ. He really gets into this music. He is dancing and spinning around up front while the over 55 crowd are squirming in our chairs and trying to sing along with the music clips - completely out of tune of course. I think if you were walking down the hall and peeked in the door, you would fall down laughing your a???? off. We, my current wife and I, had the good sense to sit in the very back row in the corner where we could groove in almost obscurity.
Haven't heard much from the kiddoes lately. We talked with the young one last night and she was holding up pretty well. She is dog sitting Kinnick the Lab along with her 2 pugs. Pretty much a house full. The elder is on RAGBRAI. We did get a very brief email from her which indicated she was still healthy. She is getting home tonight. She is only riding half way this year. It has been brutally hot and humid this year so I don't blame her a bit.
HOT BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!
Just read in the online Gazette that the Garbage Gestapo is alerting all of the Cedar Rapidians that garbage collection (foodstuff collection) will begin EXACTLY at 7:00 am due to the extreme heat and humidity conditions. You mean to tell me they HAVEN'T been starting at 7:00 am as their policy states and their little yellow tickets state. What is going on here. I think we need some accountability in the city works and solid waste agencies. They are double talking and ripping us off. Too arms I say!
Been here for 3 days and the only time I have seen the lake was when we drove in on Sunday. I don't think it is too far away but we can't go see it I guess. I haven't driven the car since Sunday either. Hope I can remember how to do that. Shoot, I don't know where the keys are!!! Yeouw, ring a ding, ring a ding - Hello, is this Triple A? Gotta think up a good story. Uh, I lost the keys when I was taping the sheets to the mattress. No that sounds lame. How about - A big guy came to my door, knocked and robbed me. He only took my keys and my can of Pik Nik Shoestring Potatoes. Yes, that works and it sounds entirely plausible. Shoot, insurance might even cover it.
Well, it is almost time for me to nod off into dreamland. Day 4 is tomorrow. Should be a rip roaring day. I will keep ya'all posted. Sweet dreams everyone. TA!
