I awoke this morning nestled in a toasty cocoon made up of my newly functioning electric blanket and a down comforter. There was a smile on my face and contentment in my heart. So nice.
Sue, my current wife has a babysitting gig today. Her second cousin twice removed or something has a very sweet young thing who needed an adult to watch over. Some sort of preschool job shadowing type of thing. I don't know for sure. So I packed my wife up, equipped with the newspaper, laptop, and snacks. Had her brush her teeth and sent her off to be watched by that sweet young thing. Let's see, how long was it before the first IT support call? Oh maybe 55 minutes. Problem couldn't be resolved via telephone support therefore I will be making an on site visit a little later.
Had our congregational annual meeting at my church yesterday. Mostly routine stuff to be voted on. I love those types of meetings. A simple "I so move" followed immediately by a "I will second it" followed by "any discussion?......Hearing none, all in favor of the motion say yes...... all not in favor - no." "The yeses have it, motion carried". I love it. Done in 2 minutes max. But there usually is a fly or two in the process which disrupt the nice quick and orderly meeting. Yesterday was no exception. True to our nature, they brought in cookies of all sorts, relish trays, coffee and all of the fixings. Now how are we supposed to get out of there in minimum time with all of those eats there? This did afford me an opportunity to visit with a young parishioner in the back pew as I was standing in line. I simply thanked her for her smile to which she asked, "When are we going to have another Drivel? I like it when I have 2 or 3 a week to read." Stunned that someone actually admits to reading this darn thing, I stammered "I write as the Drivel moves me." Doesn't make any sense, I know, but that was all I could come up with. I was flattered.
Toward the end of the meeting, I saw an opportunity to add my two cents worth to a topic. Dutifully, I raised my hand. As it was flailing about in the air, the vote was taken, the motion carried and then I was asked if I had a question. Duh! do you think it is a little late now? Oh well, probably made me avoid the opportunity to make a fool of myself.
Supposed to snow later today and tomorrow. Going to get 2 to 4 inches. That is usually the standard forecast before we get 12 to 16 inches. I am not worried however because once again my snow blower is functional. You may recall that I have rolled this awesome Toro 521 2 stage beast out every time it has snowed. My neighbors see me and just begin to chuckle as they stand watching me to see if 1. it will actually start and 2. if it will actually blow snow. These have been the only 2 problem areas I have had with it so far. They can attest to the fact that it does a very nice job of pushing snow when I push it by hand. Gets a little tiring though. The last repair fixed the rubber gas lines which had turned into mush on the inside clogging the flow of gasoline. I will keep you posted. If it fails again, I may not come out of my house for the rest of the winter. I really feel that the neighbors have a pool going or something because they are awfully interested in how it performs.
I'm thinking it is probably time for the fake Christmas tree to come down for another year. If I recall correctly, Sue mentioned that to me a few days ago or was it the week before last. About time to get to that, I guess. Also on the list of todos is cleaning the dryer vent. Sue has noticed the dryer is not drying as quickly as it should and she feels "we" should check that out. "We" will do that while she is babysitting today, I guess. Lastly, on my list is an antique table lamp whose switch no longer functions. This will require at least two trips to True Value as near as I can figure. I may throw a trip to Menard's in there for good measure. Never hurts to have more than you need when it comes to DIY projects.
Well I had better pack up my IT tools and make my house call. The French Roast is gone for today and I have had my second call requesting my support eta. If this isn't pure Drivel, I don't really know what it is I guess. Sorry to have bored you with such mundane stuff but believe me, it bores me too. Have a great day and a better tomorrow. TA!
