Whew! Beat the trash man again. Everything out there at 6:47 am. No sticker on my cans, dude. One of the reasons I write this blog is to help me with the Tuesday trash. Without this blog, I would not have the discipline necessary to routinely get the trash out by 7:00 am as mandated by our holy solid waste agency.
Kinnick's mom arrived home last Friday. We took him to his house in the evening where Jenny, the elder, surprised him or tried to at any rate. We had been getting him prepped by talking about his mom coming home. I told him that we would go to his house when she got home so he was prepared. We drove into the driveway and his tail/rudder was going 60 mph. We let him into the house and Jenny was hiding but he found her almost immediately - he followed his nose. He raced right to her, jumped up on her and lick, lick, lick, breath, lick, lick, lick. To say he was happy was an understatement. Her return did create some confusion for him though. He was not sure what to do or where he was to go - stay there with her or go home with Grandpa. What to do? He stayed with mom and has gotten back into her routine very quickly. He sure looks contented.
We, my current wife and myself, are hosting the Thanksgiving get together this year. We switch back and forth with my brother, Chris the bald, and his family. It is amusing to me at least knowing that he is 11 years younger but is BALD. Just to rub that fact in a little I let my hair grow a little longer when I know I will be seeing him. We are in emergency cleaning shut down the next 2 days. Football season takes a toll on our living area since it is the temporary staging area for tailgate supplies. Tailgating is over finally so away it goes. Vacuuming, dusting, cooking, picking up, putting away and etc still to come. Should be a good time though. We usually have a great time when we get together. There could be a surprise of two this year, who knows. I have been notified that the first week of December, the Pugs will be back for 7 days. Can I go 7 nights without sleep? Oh yeah, Kinnick will be here also. The Pugs surround you in bed making it so that you can not move. I really don't understand how Debbie does it. Do they just do this to me? Anyway, I fully expect to be near that magical "wits-end". Keep posted.
Do you engage in the Black Friday shopping exercise? I don't usually and won't be this year either. I tried it once with daughter Debby. She convinced me that she really needed me to help her. In reality, it was the van she really needed. Anyway we were standing in line at 4:45 am Friday morning in 25 degree weather outside Sams Club. Whoosh, the doors open, and away the mob goes. She grabbed the TV she wanted and checked out. Next stop, Old Navy. We had some time to wait until Menards opened. We hit Menards soon after opening. We shopped leisurely through Menards, picking up this and that. Oh, forgot to mention that they were out of carts. Once our arms were full, into the check out line we go. There were 8 lines, all full to back of the store. We noticed that people in line were using a place holder strategy. Other family members went off to gather more bargains and return to the place holder adding to their pile. These were obviously "pros". Debby decided to subscribe to that also. An hour and a half later we finally got to the cash registers. Don't think the checkers could have been any slower. I think they had "special" Thanksgiving training. While in line I was reminded that Debby knows almost everyone in town plus knows where all the restrooms are located. She is uncanny. Restroom location knowledge is extremely valuable at times though. I picked up on Debby and Jenny planning their Friday morning shopping spree over the weekend. I pretended to not hear them and discretely removed myself so that they would not be tempted to invite me along.
My taste buds are getting ready for the on-slaught of tastes in a couple of days. I plan to eat to my hearts content, then pay for it in the gym for a few days. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Here's a French Roast toast to all for a great holiday with family and friends. TA!
